Category: media > music | Merchant: Walmart US Geneva, summer of 1994: the legendary New Morning club rose from its ashes for the duration of a memorable Jazz and Blues for TV Festival. Among the heavyweights in the blockbuster line-up was Bob Berg. No one who heard him there has forgotten the white-hot saxophone, the intensity and the rough lyricism of this very scorsesean former Manhattan taxi driver. For once, the public and the critics were unanimous. Backed superbly by Alvin Queen, Niels Lan Doky and Pierre Boussaguet, Bob gave one of his best concerts - ever. On that evening, Berg was certainly still "the rebel with the angry saxophone" to whom Miles Davis had asked to join his comeback tour in 1984. But the rebel had learned to control his fiery spirit - fishing off Cape Cod had taught him the meaning of "zen" - and Bob had grown into a fully rounded artist, roaming majestically somewhere between Sonny Rollins and Stan Getz. Our friend Bob was on his way to the top (and to buying a pack of cigarettes) in 2002 when his path crossed that of a skidding truck on an icy mountain road. To the many thousands admirers of this human meteor too soon departed, we are proud to present a unique moment of jazz - of music at its best. Nancy With The Laughing Face Geneva 1994, In Conversation With Bob Berg London 2001.

Category: media > books | Merchant: Walmart US If you're not one of the lucky fans who applauded the long-awaited pairing of Larry Carlton and Steve Lukather - Larry, who was named guitarist of the year so often that the title of "player emeritus" was created for him alone, and Steve (formerly of Toto) , a flamboyant "guitar hero" in his own right - this DVD will blow away your reticence. The 2001 get-together of these tow masters at their creative peak was an unforgettable experience fuelled by mutual love and respect, freedom of inspiration and the sheer pleasure of playing. Two musicians who have been friends for thirty years toasting each other between numbers on stage at the New Morning: could there be a better reminder that blues and rock find the main source of their energy in the complicity between musicians? Before you shove the disc into the player, a bit of friendly advice: fasten your seat-belts.
